Nollywood in Hollywood is a celebration of Nigeria’s growing cinema. From very inauspicious beginnings about thirty years ago, the industry grew to be the second largest in the world in terms of output. It is estimated that over 1,000 films are produced in Nollywood every year, most of them direct to video. In recent years, Nollywood films have garnered critical acclaim and have been exhibited at top film festivals. NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD is the fifth edition of our annual exhibition of Nigeria’s best films.

The event will include screenings and networking events. It is co-presented by the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian, O2A Media Inc., and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2023

Celebrating Nigerian Film Heritage in Los Angeles. The 2023 NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD showcase took place on September 22 and 23 at the Aero Theater, Santa Monica, and Norris Theater at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. Headlining the cinematic extravaganza was a timeless classic that pay homage to the literary genius of Chinua Achebe. “Things Fall Apart” inspired by Achebe’s literary work, transports the audiences back to 1971 when this film graced the silver screen. Also, ‘The Trade’ by Jadesola Osiberu, Nigeria’s best film of the year, and the Berlin International Film Festival award winner, ‘All The Colors The World Are Between Black and White’ by Babatunde Opalowo, graced the showcase.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2022

After two years of virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prestigious Nollywood In Hollywood film showcase was returned in-person to Los Angeles on September 23 and 24, 2022. The major highlight of 2022 edition was the partnership of Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and Golden Globes, organisers of one of Hollywood’s most influential and glamorous awards show.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2021

The fourth edition of the prestigious ‘Nollywood In Hollywood’ showcase starts on 10th of September 2021 with Nigeria’s 2021 Academy Award entry, Milkmaid. The event was online and accessible for free to movie fans all over the world. Fans get a chance to interact with the stars and filmmakers of the films in a question and answer segment that follow every screening.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2020

The third edition of the prestigious NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD showcase started on 3rd october 2020 with the online premiere of LIVING IN BONDAGE and BREAKING FREE. The three-day event featured the screening of movies, an industry roundtable and virtual networking events.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2019

Three Nigerian films, Lionheart, King of Boys and Up North, were selected for showcase at the 2019 edition of ‘Nollywood in Hollywood’ which was held on March 22 and 23 in Hollywood California, USA. The two-day event begin with a red carpet and a screening at the prestigious American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre and at the World’s Premiere Film Education Institution of USC. As a testament to the growing feat of Nigerian women in the film industry, women directed the selected films, all produced in 2018.

Nollywood in Hollywood 2018

Thousands of Hollywood tourists from all over the world were held spellbound by the spectacular Nollywood In Hollywood event. Starting at sunset with a star studded red carpet event highlighted by the filmmakers and actors in the films on showcase, the night ended with a party in the courtyard of The Egyptian Theatre that spilled into Hollywood Boulevard. The events, held on March 23 and 24 and were co-presented by the world’s leading film programme, the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and Hollywood’s most prestigious screening venue, the Egyptian Theatre.
